Morley & Bishop Relive Stabgate

For those who remember the gay rumours.

Two good lads, two good players and I think Bishop is a top bloke.

The BAC logo from the replica strips from that era used to peel off the shirt after a few washes!

Eddie, as far as I can remember, I was 10 at the time.

My uncle took me...said "it won't get any worse than this for away games". I remember all sorts of shit being chucked on us in the away end and then when we scored I disappeared under the surge, some bloke lifted me up like the opening scene from the Lion King. Sure he saved my life!

The 1-1 was November 1990, Frankie Mac equalised for us, my first ever away game....

I think it was 1-1?

Re: Morley & Bishop Relive Stabgate
I can backup Soldo's story of what I heard. A spit roast with Bish and wife and Morley's missus came back early.

I got the story off a mate who worked for the Standard/Evening News. I also know which WH player leaked it...

Can't remember losing 2-1 at the den - what year was that ?

Re: Morley & Bishop Relive Stabgate
I remember when we lost 2.1 at the den, he was Morley was involved in our goal at the end. Every time he got the ball (and for our goal) you could here a 'ohhhhhwweeee' type noise.

Still makes me laugh, the cunts.

There are some great lines in the interview madeasy posted below, which probably explain the player he was. If you've got a spare 15 minutes, well worth a butchers.

Comes across as a great bloke. Would love to have him working with our kids. Sounds like he's enjoying it too much in the US. Fair play to him.

Re: Morley & Bishop Relive Stabgate
Despite us being rather shite - this was my favourite era of all time.

Morley was a regular starter but it was always a toss-up between McAvennie and Jimmy QUINN for the other forward slot.

God I wish we could return to them times

The game we got promoted v Cambridge 1993 was it

everyones ran on the pitch , Ive gone to the dug out , not sure why just to shout, clap, cheer, sing . . . the players are still trying to get back down the tunnel

I'm now standing on one of the seats in the managers dug out , next thing I know ive been knocked down by the surge of the crowd , someones crashed into me and I fall from the seat onto a small crowd

As I get up it was Bishop who pollaxed me trying to get back down the tunnel . .

Great time, great memories !!!

Bish is my all time Hammer.

Too young for Brooking, don't really remember Cottee and McAvennie, my first real solid memories are from 87 onwards. Season 90/91 is the first I can remember properly, went to a lot of games and watched the end of season video hundreds of times.

Bumped into Bish at the last game at the Boleyn at half time, he was on the Rio upper concourse, grabbed him for a photo, quick chat and a cuddle. Legend.

Supported from Australia as a kid and it was 1989 when I first had the chance to stand on the North Bank.
Really glad I got to do that and must admit that era of Dicks, Bishop, Morley, Ludo, Martin Allen etc brings back good memories. No matter how shit we were at times.
Would love to be on the North Bank tomorrow.

Cheers, really enjoyed that. One of the players I most enjoyed watching for us. If seeing how he talks about the game doesn't make you nostalgic for how it was, well, you probably weren't there...

Re: Morley & Bishop Relive Stabgate
Yeah I remember, go a goal down and the crowd would erupt and be more noisy than before.

Dunno what or even when it was but this seemed to change almost overnight at some stage, and you'd get half of Upton Park fucking off home if we conceded and booing if we were drawing at half time.

I'd say it was around the time the West Stand got rebuilt but don't wanna correlate causation and all that shit.

Re: Morley & Bishop Relive Stabgate
I got nicked once for surging when we scored against Port Vale and as I was being marched off in front of the South Bank, we scored again and I just missed out on being on the video!!

Was processed and then me and every other cunt getting done all walked back round to the South Bank and went back in, as the gates were open by then.

2-2 I think and maybe Robbie Earle scored for them.
